The Minstrel's Song

The Minstrel’s Song

The song of the minstrel is a pleasant tune
Intended to brighten our days.
It lightens our hearts and stirs our feet
To beat to his measure and sway.

Its melody lifts ‘or the grateful throng
Raising our spirits high.
But too often we fail to heed his words
As in rapture they drift on by.

For in his rhyme the minstrel tells
Of many trials long past,
And those that passed but yesterday
Whose shadows long are cast.

He sings of times both fine and foul
That bear for us some point.
He sings of wise men, wits and fools
Whose deeds our lives anoint.

What fools are those who ignore his advice,
Who just whistle his merry tune.
For they shall pay a most heavy price
And left howling at the Moon.

But those who listen and mind him well
Shall ever rejoice the time
That they harkened to the minstrel’s words
And followed his reason and rhyme.

Go listen to the words of the minstrel’s song
And learn his lessons well.
There’s wisdom in his crafted phrase
To guide us ‘or the swell.
