The Void

The Void

It was dark, so very, very dark that the nonexistent stars feared to shine.

It was silent, so very, very silent that even the unborn wind could not hear itself breathe.

And then, it shattered, exploded into a million fragments; a million million. In an instant too quick to be measured in “time,” for time implies passage and movement, and there was no “time’ for either, it happened so quickly that it did not happen. Could not have happened!

The void was filled to overflowing, consumed with light too bright to be called “brilliant.” Light that swirled and vibrated and throbbed.

It burst with sound, sound so encompassing it surged as a liquid over, around and through. Sound that lifted and moved and shaped.

The void became engorged with the sum of all things. The energy heaved and boiled, swelling against the perimeters that were not there, pressing urgently against non-existent confines. It initiated all, contained all, became all. The void ceased to be.

Gone was the darkness. Gone the silence. Gone the vacant atmosphere. Gone forever, and longer.

And so it began.
